In the last post, I looked at some of the Paths to the Goddess that opened for us during the last half century and beyond. In this post, I look at the Mysteries of the Goddess, and how they came to their end in the Classical world. But also I follow the clue that leads us through the intervening centuries as the traditional practices and devotions start coming back to us, and how we might be part of the Goddess Mysteries today.
Note, that I am using the word ‘divinities’ respectfully because, in writing about the Mysteries, many devotees have resonance with more than one divine being, and that some of these are male as well as female. I am also aware that the return of the Mysteries is embedded in more than one movement: across the wide spectrum of Paganism, within land-based indigenous rites and folk customs, within ritual magic, living philosophy, as well as within what we can call Goddess spirituality. There are many cross-overs and co-allegiances that one person may hold.
I am writing this post on the 48th anniversary of the founding of the Fellowship of Isis, the world-wide association for all who respond to the divine feminine in any form, as an act of homage to its founders, and out of thankfulness for all those whose spiritual vocations have flourished as a result of its good tending.
