As someone who has been reading your books and been inspired by them over many years it’s wonderful to have a communal space to just say ‘Thank you’! Writing (and, I find, painting) is sometimes like scattering seeds to the wind. It’s heartening to be given the chance to show you some of the flowers that grew.
As your ‘other half’ in life and work I’m still one of those who frequently thinks no one is reading me and why am I bothering - So it means a lot to be reminded ( as you do, most days!) that I do have followers - probably a lot more than I know. Xx
Yes, John! Even in the midst of serious down-sizing, I still have several of your books (and Caitlin's) on my shelves, treasures to be hoarded and re-read! And the ones I could bear to let go have gone to Pamela Meeking-Stewart's Celtic Spirituality library in Pukerua Bay. My greetings and thanks to you. (Peta Joyce from New Zealand).
John I have enjoyed your writings so much, although I’ve fallen behind a bit! The wisdom of King Arthur, the world of Fairy, and a walk through your library dusting off your favorite books - inspiring and entertaining! Thank you so much! ❤️🙏✨ 👑 📚
I am one of those looking to live in a better way and I’m very thankful for your writing and it has got into my heart and mind, I am grateful for you and the knowledge and experience you bring to bear.
Such a warming heartfelt article, thank you for all you give, many of us have grown up reading your books and your latest course truly is food for the soul xx
This year of enjoying your writing has been a balm for my spirit! It feels like an intimate expansion of your books or a backstage pass to a new production of a favorite play! Thank you so much! 🙏🥹❤️✨
You and John have been inspiring me for many years, from sometime in the '90s to today. I love my journey with you guys. I saw that Doctor Who episode, it was great. Matt Smith is my favorite Doctor. I am depending on you and others of a spiritual nature to help me keep my head on straight in these coming difficult days. Much love to you and John. E
" Consolation is such a strong part of our reading, as is our ravenous desire for the story of which we cannot get enough!".
So true - all my life I have turned to books for companionship, wisdom, escape, knowledge, comfort and meaning-making. Never more so as now, when the world-as-we-knew-it is rapidly changing and we so need old/new maps for this journey to the next 'story'. I have found writers on Substack so helpful in trying to make meaning of what has happened in recent years, when the dominant narrative (and concurrent censorship of contrary ideas) made no sense at all to me and I thought I was going crazy! And thanks for the link to the secret Syrian library, I found it deeply moving - reading as a means of surviving - wow! Thank you, Caitlin your writings are much treasured by me and friends I share you with.
